A bead phenomenon of the south Asian landscape especially of the villages.

It is typically depicted with the woman carrying a waterpot atop her head or upon her hip from the well or river. The landscape's optical commentary also includes the male counterpart carrying water pots or baskets of wares on a pole balanced on one shoulder to the market.

The earthen water pot and straw baskets come alive in the exotic south asian decorative brown and blue beads of this piece along with the copper and brass colored beads of the village woman's atelier.

The themes of earth and water which also come forth in the colors blue and brown are universal.
