THE INTELLIGENCE IN THE BANAL
A woman’s personality is multifaceted. There is the wisdom in the eyes, the dignity in the nose, determination in her chin, the benevolence in her listening, the discernment in her tongue, the strength in her voice and the invitation of love and life in the stretch and expanse of her skin and complexion. Her routine busy with wisdom, dignity, determination, discernment and benevolence… she weaves her day into the tapestry of life and community with intelligence in the banal. Little details are the nuts and bolts that hold the day together. The bead so much like these details embellish the practical wisdom which is the intelligence in the banal; the quick errand to the mall to get a gift for mother’s day; a quick stop at the hospice to visit an old neighbor in a day full of appointments. A bead homely, casual and friendly worn completes the moment to it’s fullest as a gesture extended with a sense of a self of satisfaction and gratitude.
Beauty may be skin deep and lies in the eyes of the beholder and diamonds are earned and forever yet the humble bead with stoic and wit, pragmatic and inclusive is universal .
